- The ability for users to “share” Do Your Part! to their favorite social networking site.
- Enhanced social networking options for forums, blogs, events and/or calendars.
- Addition of emission sources and reduction strategies (e.g., air travel, low-flow showerheads) to the calculator.

Do Your Part! Technology
Do Your Part! is comprised of three integrated elements:
- User Interface: Its interactive mapping feature lets individuals join together around common interests or geography, aggregate results, create groups, and get inspired.
- Carbon Calculator: Its carbon calculator, developed by ICF for EPA, allows individuals to understand their current carbon footprint and then set goals to reduce their impact.
- Database: Its tracking tool displays progress in real time toward common goals.
The site consists of a custom-built PHP presentation layer atop a MySQL relational database. The site makes extensive use of JavaScript to control the Google Maps interface (API), the calculator (and its interface), and many other aspects of the site. The site includes a critical “footprint” graphic (Flash) at the top of individual and group pages, which tracks pledges in relation to an overall goal.
Do Your Part!’s methodology was developed in collaboration with the EPA by the same team that develops the annual U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventory. Based on international methodologies used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the United Nations, and EPA, it represents a robust and easy-to-use framework for calculating GHG emissions.
