Risk Assessment for Integrated Air Program
FAIRFAX, VA, October 16, 2006 – ICF
International (Nasdaq: ICFI) announced today that
it was awarded a five-year, US$7 million contract
with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS).
This is the third consecutive time that ICF has
been awarded this contract. The firm will provide health
and environmental risk assessment support to
the Integrated Air Program, including assistance
with the National-Scale Air Toxics Assessment (NATA).
"Having worked for more than ten years assisting OAQPS in its risk assessment activities for air toxics and criteria pollutants, the ICF team’s experience is unparalleled in the industry," says Baxter Jones, senior vice president at ICF and expert in environmental risk assessment. "ICF
will apply its scientific and technical expertise
to analyze the potential public health and environmental impacts of air pollutants."
The objectives of EPA's criteria pollutant program are focused on setting National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for widespread pollutants considered harmful to public health and the environment. EPA’s air toxics program is focused on reducing the risks associated with hazardous air pollutants listed in the Clean
Air Act. ICF’s role will include environmental model development, ecological risk assessment, risk assessment methodology development, uncertainty and variability analysis, technical guidance development, and communications and outreach support for the program.
