Establishment of Software Development
Best Practices Recognized
FAIRFAX, VA,
September 28, 2004 – ICF Consulting is very
pleased to announce that it has completed a formal appraisal
by a Software Engineering Institute (SEI) approved appraiser
and has been rated as performing at a Capability Maturity
Model Integration® (CMMI) Level 2 maturity. This rating
confirms that ICF Consulting has established effective,
well-defined processes and procedures in project management
and software development that meet all requirements of
CMMI Level 2, and in certain cases CMMI Level 3.
Being assessed at CMMI Level 2 demonstrates ICF Consulting’s
level of commitment to excellence in project management and
software development and delivery. Because CMMI has become
the standard of excellence in improving organizational processes
in government and industry, achieving this rating places
ICF Consulting in a select group. The firm also achieved
Level 3 capability in three additional areas: organizational
process focus, organization process definition, and organizational
training.
"ICF Consulting is very pleased to reach this goal
in the relatively short time frame of seven months. Most
companies spend an average of 18 or more months to work through
the process," says Paul Anninos, Senior Vice President
for Enterprise IT Solutions. "Achieving Level 2 is
a great milestone, but not an end goal. We're already
working on achieving a Level 3 rating across all areas, and
I am very confident of the outcome given the way our organization
performed to achieve Level 2."

The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) (www.sei.cmu.edu)
is a federally funded research and development center sponsored
by the U.S. Department of Defense through the Office of
the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology,
and Logistics [OUSD (AT&L)]. The SEI's core purpose
is to help others make measured improvements in their software
engineering capabilities. The SEI continues to advocate
the adoption of CMMI models as the best process improvement
models available for product and service development and
maintenance. These models build on and extend the best
practices of the Capability Maturity Model for Software
(SW-CMM®), the Systems Engineering Capability Model
(SECM), and the Integrated Product Development Capability
Maturity Model (IPD-CMM).
