ICF Consulting Awarded Contract to Provide Monitoring and Verification Support for Consolidated Edison’s Load Reduction Initiative

ICF Consulting Assists Con Edison in Increasing Distribution Network Reliability

ALBANY, NY, January 6, 2005 – ICF Associates LLC, Inc., a subsidiary of ICF Consulting, was awarded a contract by Consolidated Edison Company of New York (Con Edison) to provide monitoring and verification (M&V) services related to its Targeted Demand Side Management (DSM) Initiative. The Initiative is intended to increase local electricity distribution network reliability and defer new network construction through the "purchase" of permanent load reduction from third-party providers. ICF Consulting will provide turnkey M&V services to ensure that a firm reduction in network demand of 47 megawatts is delivered to Con Edison.

"Con Edison is pleased to call on ICF Consulting’s depth and breadth of experience in energy saving and load reduction programs," says Louis A. Cedrone, Director of Marketing and Sales, Con Edison. "We are convinced that demand side management by all classes of customers will be a viable alternative to major capital outlays for new distribution infrastructure. Our longstanding relationship with ICF Consulting as a valuable ally to Con Edison will help ensure that our DSM objectives are met," says Mr. Cedrone.

"ICF Consulting staff have designed, marketed, implemented, and evaluated energy-efficiency and load reduction programs for decades," says Jeanne Townend, an ICF Consulting Senior Vice President in charge of the firm’s Energy Policy and Programs work. "We are pleased to bring this expertise to the important role of ensuring that Con Edison’s goals are met by verifying the activities and savings promised by third-party vendors," says Ms. Townend.

Michael Mernick, Vice President in charge of the project, says, "Our extensive energy-efficiency credentials and our deep experience in building data management systems will provide Con Edison with the expertise needed to track and verify the installation of energy-efficiency and load reduction measures and the confidence to report on those savings."
