ICF Consulting Wins Creativity in Public Relations Award for Best Print PSA

FAIRFAX, VA, July 24, 2000 - ICF Consulting announced today that it has received the 2000 Creativity in Public Relations Award (CIPRA) in the Public Service Announcement (PSA) Print category. ICF Consulting won the award for its "Runs Better Unleaded" PSA in support of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Lead Awareness Program. ICF Consulting developed the catchy and colorful "Runs Better Unleaded" PSA, which features vivid photographs of children playing in different settings, and placed the PSA throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan transit system and in movie theaters in Baltimore, Maryland, to raise awareness of the risks of childhood lead poisoning.

"ICF Consulting has addressed lead-poisoning issues for years in scientific, policy, and communications roles," said Susan Hughes, senior vice president of ICF Consulting and director of its communications practice. "It is especially rewarding to be recognized by our peers for our creative efforts on such an important health issue."

The CIPRAs are sponsored by Inside PR, one of the leading public relations publications. Now in its tenth year, the CIPRAs celebrate excellence across the broad spectrum of public-relations activities, from the management of corporate reputation to the introduction of a new product to the production of a video news release. CIPRA winners are chosen from more than 1,500 submissions—more than twice as many as other awards for public relations programming. Winners are chosen by the most senior judges in the industry, all of whom are either presidents of respected public relations firms or the senior communications professionals at major corporations.

The Strategic Communications practice of ICF Consulting, which is located in Washington, D.C., helps its clients strategically communicate their social marketing messages to key stakeholders. Some of its clients include EPA's ENERGY STAR®, the Pennsylvania Department of the Environment, and the California Residential Lighting and Appliance Program.
