WASHINGTON, DC, August 5, 2002 - ICF Consulting has
been selected by the District of Columbia's Office of Homeland
Defense to support an unprecedented effort to reach out to the
private sector regarding emergency management needs in light
of heightened concerns following the events of September 11,
2001. ICF Consulting will be providing its emergency preparedness
expertise in planning and training directly to the District
government as a service for District employers as they address
employee safety, business continuity, and opportunities to support
response and recovery efforts in their community.
"With company offices and many staff located in the
District, we at ICF Consulting are honored to help the private
sector prepare for future emergencies," said ICF Consulting
Project Manager Michael Armstrong. "The selection of
ICF Consulting by the District government underscores our
depth of expertise and emergency preparedness support, and
our understanding of the District's business community perspectives."
ICF Consulting is already working with the Greater Washington
Board of Trade on its approach to addressing its members'
needs regarding emergency preparedness and is participating
in the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government's development
of a homeland security strategy. The ICF Consulting Emergency
Management and Homeland Security practice also supports
the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Emergency Management
Agency, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the
