ICF Consulting Wins $1.8 Million Recompete Contract to Continue Helping
U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) with Regulations and Rule Making Processes

WASHINGTON, DC, January 10, 2005 - ICF Consulting has been awarded a contract to continue providing regulatory support services to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Diversion Control (OD). Under this 3-year, $1.8 million award, ICF Consulting will review, analyze, and assist DEA in updating regulations to respond to technology advances as well as new statutory mandates. DEA's regulations govern the legal import, export, manufacture, distribution, and dispensing of controlled substances and the handling of chemicals that can be used to produce illegal drugs.

"We are excited about continuing this important work with DEA," said David Bruce, Senior Vice President and director of the firm’s regulatory support business. "Rapid changes in technology, the science of controlled substances, and the nature of drug trafficking require well thought-out updates to the regulations and rules."

"ICF Consulting is a national leader in the field of regulatory support and has worked with DEA’s Office of Diversion Control since 1999," continued Bruce. "Our deep understanding of the regulatory process is based on more than twenty years of experience working with federal agencies on hundreds of rulemakings."

ICF Consulting offers a full range of regulatory support services. The firm prepares the analyses required of regulatory agencies, including analyses addressing costs, benefits, economic impacts, small entity impacts, paperwork burden, environmental impact under NEPA, and environmental justice. The firm also provides drafting support, technical analysis and research, policy analysis, and comment summarization and analysis and helps prepare communications, outreach, and training programs related to regulatory efforts. ICF Consulting’s staff come from a broad range of disciplines including economics, law, business and finance, policy, engineering, health sciences, and natural sciences.
