Consulting to Provide Environmental Research
and Technical
Support
WASHINGTON, DC, June 13, 2005 - ICF
Consulting announced today that it was awarded a five-year
contract by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) of
the U.S. Department of Transportation to provide environmental
research, technical analysis, and program implementation
consulting services. The contract to support the Office
of Planning, Environment & Realty is worth up to
$20.7 million. FHWA’s environmental research program
plays a key role in enhancing transportation decision-making
through research addressing fundamental knowledge of
the relationships between transportation and the environment.
The FHWA also supports the development of analytical
methods and tools, and information that supports decision-making
processes covering policy, planning, programming, and
project development at the federal, state, and local
levels.
As the demand for highway travel continues to increase
in the United States, transportation agencies at all
government levels will face even greater challenges as
they attempt to provide safe, efficient, and reliable
transportation systems and services. "Communities
across the country have turned to FHWA for leadership,
guidance, and resources to ensure that transportation
solutions protect and enhance their natural and human
environments," says Sergio Ostria, ICF Consulting
Senior Vice President, who directs the firm’s work
in transportation. "We have assembled a multi-disciplinary
team of highly credentialed, nationally recognized experts
to support FHWA with its environmental research program.
ICF Consulting looks forward to supporting FHWA with
the development and implementation of critical environmental
initiatives that will affect communities across the country,"
says Mr. Ostria.
