Karmali, based in London, is now a Senior Vice President
with ICF Consulting. He is a widely recognized expert in
helping companies manage under constraints imposed on greenhouse
gas (GHG) emissions. As the European Union (EU) grapples
with implementing the Kyoto Protocol through measures such
as emissions trading and begins to shift to a lower-carbon economy, he has
positioned ICF Consulting as the leading provider of strategic consulting services
to UK and European companies in sectors as diverse as energy, mining, metals,
chemicals, cement, and aviation. He also has helped ICF Consulting secure contracts
with the European Commission's Directorate-General (DG) for Transport and Energy
and DG Environment.
Mr. Karmali has more than 14 years of experience in advising
leading companies and governments on the challenges associated
with strategies to manage emissions of greenhouse gases.
Mr. Karmali is a frequent chair and speaker at European
conferences and industry meetings on climate change and
serves as an Expert Contributor to Oxford Analytica on
this topic. He has experience working on client engagements
in more than 40 countries in Europe, North America, Asia,
and Latin America.
Mr. Karmali has worked for ICF Consulting since 1990, with
the exception of a two-year period as Climate Change Officer
with the United Nations Environment Programme in Paris, France.
He has maintained a focus on developing business and branding
in markets outside the US on behalf of ICF Consulting, helping
to set up the Moscow, Russia, office in 1992, and positioning
the Toronto office as a Canadian leader in climate change
consulting in 1998-1999.. Mr. Karmali holds a S.M., Technology & Policy
Programme, from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and
a B.A.Sc., Chemical Engineering and Management Science, from
University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
