FAIRFAX, VA, March 9, 1998 - ICF Kaiser International,
Inc. (NYSE: ICF) today announced that it has been awarded
a contract worth up to $5 million per year over three years
to support the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's
(HUD) Neighborhood Networks Program.
Launched in September 1995, Neighborhood Networks is a community-based
initiative that establishes computerized learning and resource
centers in HUD-insured and -assisted housing. To date, more
than 300 Neighborhood Networks centers nationwide allow low-income
residents to gain on-site access to computer training, the
Internet, job readiness, microenterprise development, health
care, adult education classes, youth services, and more. Over
700 additional Neighborhood Networks centers are in the planning
stages. The primary goal of the program is to assist residents
in becoming more self-sufficient, employable, and economically
self-reliant.
ICF Kaiser will provide technical assistance for Neighborhood
Networks as the initiative enters the next growth phase. ICF
Kaiser's responsibilities include assisting HUD with strategic
planning, partnership development, microenterprise development
for housing residents, training, research, evaluation, media/public
information outreach, and marketing/communications.
