Sacramento, California. ICF International's Terry Rivasplata and Maggie Townsley will be the instructors for the upcoming EIR/EIS Preparation and Review, to be held at the University of California, Davis. Many projects are subject to both the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Preparing a combined EIR/EIS to meet the requirements of both acts can increase efficiency and reduce redundancy. However, since the passage of CEQA and NEPA in the early 1970s, the content and review requirements of combined documents have become progressively more complex and detailed. Legislative amendments and changes brought about by case law have resulted in the legal mandate for complex, comprehensive documents that must inform decision-makers and the public of significant environmental effects of a proposed government action. In this hands-on course, examine the key content requirements and standards for a combined EIR/EIS document. Learn how to ensure the EIR/EIS notice and review process complies with the procedural requirements of both CEQA and NEPA, and how to resolve potential conflicts between the acts. Learn about the overall processes of both CEQA and NEPA, as well as methods of meeting the requirements of both through a combined environmental document.
