announced today that Polly McWhorter Quick has joined the
firm as a Principal in the Environmental Science and Engineering
practice. Based in San Francisco, California, she has more
than thirty years of professional experience in the environmental
field. Dr. Quick recently rejoined ICF Consulting after
three years at Bechtel’s Corporate Sustainability
Group.
Dr. Quick has worked as both practitioner and manager in
the areas of: environmental and social impact assessments
with emphasis on cultural, social, and economic resources;
sustainability assessments and initiatives for large international
construction projects; public participation and community
relations with special emphasis on indigenous communities;
and cultural and socioeconomic analyses. She holds both a
Ph.D. and a M.A. in Anthropology from Harvard University,
and a B.A. in Anthropology from Radcliffe College.

In 1999, Dr. Quick completed five years as Program Manager
for a $30M remediation contract with the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (US EPA). She subsequently was Deputy Program
Manager for a $260M remediation contract for the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers (USACE).
Other work includes Native American consultations and social
impact assessments for environmental impact studies and collaborative
planning processes. Dr. Quick was the Senior Advisor on Sustainable
Development for Bechtel’s Nanhai Petrochemical Plant
project in China and supported Bechtel’s Fjardaal Smelter
Project in Iceland. She assisted with preparation of Resettlement
Action Plans for a West Africa Gas Pipeline project. She
is currently responsible for Native American input to a hydroelectric
relicensing process in California. Dr. Quick is overseeing
the social elements of due diligence audits for InterAmerican
Development Bank of proposed projects in Brazil and Costa
Rica.
