TORONTO, ONTARIO, January 13, 2005 -
ICF Consulting announced today that Ralph Torrie has joined
the firm as a Vice President, focusing on energy
policy and programs, environmental
issues in the energy industry, and climate
change. Mr. Torrie has
30 years of professional experience in the energy and environmental
field, including 25 years as the CEO of Torrie-Smith Associates
in Ottawa.
Mr. Torrie developed methods and software for quantifying
energy savings and the development of greenhouse gas (GHG)
and air emission reduction strategies that are used throughout
the world. He is an expert on Canadian energy demand patterns
and has led or contributed to numerous analyses of the technological
and economic potential for energy efficiency. Mr. Torrie
has worked throughout Canada and internationally, is frequently
published, and was the recipient of the 2002 Canadian Environment
Silver Award for his climate change work.
"Ralph has a well-deserved reputation as one of the
most innovative and visionary thinkers on climate change
and energy issues, and how to address these issues at the
national, provincial, state, and local levels," said
Randall Freed, an ICF Consulting Senior Vice President. "We’ve
worked with him for several years, and have always been impressed
by his ability to develop clever and creative approaches
to address issues associated with GHG, sustainable energy,
and air pollutants. We’re delighted to have Ralph join
our team," says Mr. Freed.
"This will be the century of the ecological revolution
in human affairs. The ideas defined 20 to 30 years ago have
been incubating since then and are finally taking hold. ICF
Consulting has the breadth and depth of experience that will
allow me to work more effectively in these complex and rapidly
growing markets," says Mr. Torrie.
