In October 2010, ICF was named the winner of the 2010 Green Award for large companies (greater than $50 million revenue) by the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC). The award is the most prestigious green award in the Washington, D.C., area and recognizes exceptional sustainable business practices.
In winning the award, ICF was recognized for "top notch environmental practices," which include its:
- Employee-volunteer Green Team, which educates and engages employees to make environmentally friendly decisions at work and at home.
- Dedication to being carbon neutral by disclosing its carbon emissions to the Carbon Disclosure Project and for purchasing high quality carbon offsets.
- Green commuting options and telework programs that have a total savings equivalent of removing nearly 1,800 cars from the road each year.
- Recycling program, which collected 366,300 pounds of paper last year, or the equivalent of saving more than 3,100 trees.
NVTC is the largest technology council in the United States. It serves the technology community in Northern Virginia, which includes about 1,000 companies, service providers, universities, foreign embassies, nonprofit organizations, and governmental agencies.
