Jeffrey Ang-Olson

Jeff Ang-Olson

Jeffrey Ang-Olson is a transportation planner and engineer with 18 years of experience in climate change, air quality, economics, freight transportation, travel demand management (TDM), performance measures, and land use. Much of his work focuses on development and evaluation of approaches to reduce emissions and other environmental impacts from the transport sector, and he has extensive experience collecting and analyzing data related to transportation system characteristics and performance.

Mr. Ang-Olson has served as principal investigator (PI) for six studies for the Transportation Research Board of the National Academy of Sciences, and he has led a variety of studies focused on freight transportation, including trucks, trains, ships, and ports. He played a major role in the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) SmartWay Transport Partnership program, and he supported the development of the state climate action plans for Colorado, Washington, and Alaska, serving as facilitator and lead analyst for the transportation working groups in each state. He also led the development of EPA's Guide to Sustainable Transportation Performance Measures, the Caltrans Activities to Address Climate Change report, and the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Air Quality Impacts of Freight Transportation study.

Mr. Ang-Olson has a master's degree in City Planning and Transportation Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a member of the Transportation Research Board's Air Quality Committee.
