Michael Sanchez manages the Electric Reliability and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Compliance Group. Over the last 23 years, he has held senior IT and compliance leadership positions in the energy, oil and gas, health care, and transportation industries. He has also addressed Sarbanes-Oxley, the regulatory concerns of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Since April 2007, Mr. Sanchez has consulted on NERC issues while serving as the NERC program manager for a large power generation company with facilities in all eight NERC regions.
Previously, Mr. Sanchez assisted in the IT rebuild and redesign of a power generation company. He managed IT security, change management, disaster recovery, business continuity, production applications, databases, and hardware for a $12-billion energy corporation, for which he provided technology management and support for pipeline, chemical plant, and salt dome storage facilities. Mr. Sanchez is a board member and membership chairman of InfraGard Houston, a private nonprofit organization in a public-private partnership between U.S. businesses and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
