Michael D. Smith specializes in providing project management and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance review. He has managed environmental impact statements (EIS) for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) Standards Rulemakings.
Dr. Smith is an instructor for NEPA training courses offered through the Environmental Leadership Program at Duke University and cosponsored by the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). He served a Science and Technology Policy Fellowship with the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has a Ph.D. in Sociology, an M.A. in Geography, and a B.A. in Environmental Studies.
