Beyond Traditional Transportation Demand Management in the Mid-Atlantic Region

Mid-Atlantic Transportation Webinar Series
Categorized Under: Transportation

The mid-Atlantic region rates as one of the most congested areas in the country. These traffic challenges are being effectively addressed through traditional transportation demand management (TDM) strategies such as carpooling, vanpooling, and mass transit.

However, this region is also successfully leveraging demand management strategies to solve more than just traffic congestion. Demand management can be used as a solution to meet the region’s key objectives, including livability, sustainability, and climate change.

This webinar addressed how we can go beyond traditional TDM to meet multiple objectives in the region. Using strategies such as high-occupancy/toll (HOT) lanes, bus rapid transit, and shuttles for Base Realignment and Closures (BRAC), we can bring solutions to the region’s livability needs. The webinar also covers how TDM can be integrated into every cycle of a project, from project planning to development and operations in order to ensure that demand management is part of the solution.
