As the National Guard has shifted from a standing reserve to an operational force since 9/11/01, facilitating post-deployment reintegration of Citizen-Soldiers/families has emerged as a major imperative. Minnesota Army National Guard (MN ARNG) designed and implemented a ground-breaking Pilot Reintegration Program to facilitate the well-being and work-life balance of combat veterans and their families, transition from active duty to drill status or separation, and reintegration to civilian jobs, schooling, lives, and communities. MN ARNG contracted ICF International to evaluate the program's effectiveness and inform efforts to improve post-deployment reintegration programming throughout the Guard. ICF performed a formal analysis of MN ARNG's months-long, four-part reintegration training program, which has since become the model for the National Guard’s nationwide Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program.
