Using a user-centered design process, ICF created the AIDS.gov website for the Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy, incorporating best practices in design, information architecture, usability, and mobile and interactive development.
AIDS.gov works to increase HIV testing and care among people most at-risk for—or living with—HIV by using interactive and mobile strategies to provide access to basic HIV/AIDS information, U.S. federal policies, programs, and resources. AIDS.gov was launched in 2006 on World AIDS Day. Since then, the website has remained in the vanguard of the use of new technologies, adding podcasts and social media in 2007 and 2008 and releasing the HIV Testing Sites and Care Service Locator—an online location-based search tool for HIV testing and care services—in 2009. It launched a mobile website, optimizing additional services for mobile use in 2010 and 2011. Since 2010, AIDS.gov has become the "vehicle of transparency" for the White House Office of National AIDS Policy's National HIV/AIDS Strategy to increase HIV testing and care services.
Today, AIDS.gov is one of the first, full-scale federal websites launched using responsive design, one of the modern tools and technologies that the Obama administration's new Digital Government Strategy instructs federal agencies to use in order to deliver better digital services to any device, anytime, anywhere.
