ICF, in association with Summit Enterprises International, is helping the government of Alberta to identify the risks associated with climate change and to develop adaptation options and responses. This work will serve as a foundation for a provincial climate change adaptation strategy. The ICF team is working with seven Alberta government departments:
- Energy
- Agriculture and Rural Development
- Parks, Recreation, and Tourism
- Transportation
- Infrastructure
- Health and Wellness
- Municipal Affairs
Specifically, the ICF team will:
- Conduct a climate change risk assessment for each of the seven departments
- Work to increase awareness and understanding of climate change impacts on the core business areas of these departments
- Help the departments develop adaptation options and responses based on the risk assessment
