Since 1992, the U.S. Department of Education’s National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research has contracted with ICF to operate AbleData, a website that provides the general public and the disability community with objective information on assistive technology and rehabilitation equipment available from domestic and international sources to consumers, organizations, professionals, and caregivers within the United States.

Beginning as a call center with an in-house database of approximately 12,000 assistive products, ICF brought AbleData to the Internet in 1996. The accessible, intuitive website allows visitors to search or browse all of the project’s information resources, including descriptions of over 40,000 products from more than 5,000 companies. ICF also developed a custom-designed, Web-based content management system for AbleData’s extensive product and resource listings. The website  receives over 3,000,000 visitors each year, and the site is internationally recognized as the most comprehensive and reliable source of information on assistive technology in the world.
