NSWC Dahlgren Division Explorations of Leadership Program (ELP)

Categorized Under: Defense, Organizational Learning + Performance

ICF designed the Explorations of Leadership Program as the first of three programs in the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) formal leadership development continuum. This program runs 10 days with 80 hours of instruction over several weeks. It provides participants an opportunity to be introduced to leadership principles through the use of assessments, models, theories, case studies, and guest presenters.

Assessments are used to provide participants with insight into their leadership behaviors as perceived by themselves and others, their preferred conflict style, and their temperament type. Shortly after designing and launching the program, the Explorations of Leadership program was identified as a “best practice” for other organizations to adopt.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division was recognized as a Gold Winner of the 2006 USD Workforce Development Award sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense Acquisition, Technology and Logistics.
