ICF has provided research and policy analysis support to EPA on smart growth issues for more than a decade.
ICF’s support has included:
- Developing a technical review of the interactions among land use, transportation, and environmental quality
- Researching 23 case studies to highlight the implementation of projects that successfully addressed the transportation, environmental, and land use contexts
- Leading a team that helped communities to assess codes, ordinances, and design standards and develop smart growth implementation strategies for the Smart Growth Implementation Assistance Program—ICF has provided technical assistance under this program to communities across the country since 2005
- Researching and developing the Sustainable Performance Measures Guidebook that describes 12 measures that can be readily developed and applied in transportation decision making, with recent metropolitan planning organization examples of their use
