For the South Dakota Department of Transportation, ICF gathered crash data from all nine reservations in South Dakota and assessed the tribal crash data collection process at each reservation.
This report makes recommendations that would improve crash reporting from tribal lands, centering on working with tribal councils to agree on how crash reporting will be conducted and providing support and incentives for crash reporting improvements at tribal and U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs law enforcement agencies.
