Building Towards a Low Carbon World

Categorized Under: Energy

ICF International authored the Knowledge Paper, Building Towards a Low Carbon World, for Indian Carbon Market Conclave 2011, held September 7-8, 2011 in New Delhi, India. In this paper, ICF International attempts to give an account of India's position and status with respect to the global actions, analyze the emergent and potential ventures in the post 2012 scenario, and build linkages with India's progressive low carbon economy growth path, while simultaneously recognizing the volatility of the global climate regime and uncertainty hovering over international carbon markets.

The Knowledge Paper gives insights on all the Carbon Demand Management (CDM) projects across all sectors of Indian Industries. It captures main issues discussed and the major achievements at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Cancun (COP-16) in December 2010. It also covers the opinions of different stakeholders from the upcoming COP-17 conference in Durban, South Africa; speaks about the different and new initiatives from COP-16; and outlines the efforts and the stance taken by the government of India (GOI) at COP-16 as well as GOI’s achievements.
