Guidance on Using Corridor and Subarea Planning to Inform NEPA

Federal Highway Administration, April 5, 2011

Categorized Under: Transportation

This Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) guidance, developed with support of ICF, is provided to assist transportation planners and environmental practitioners in the use of corridor and subarea planning to inform the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review process. This document responds to the need for additional guidance on how best to use corridor and subarea planning to bridge the transportation planning and NEPA processes, so that the results of a multimodal, systems-level corridor or subarea planning study may be used as part of the overall project development process consistent with NEPA and FHWA regulations.
