Corps of Engineers Issues Proposal to Reissue Nationwide Permits

On September 26, 2006 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) began seeking public comment for its proposal to reissue its Nationwide Permits. The Nationwide Permits are a group of general permits that are issued by the Corps for activities with minimal adverse impact to wetlands and other waters that are regulated under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act. The Nationwide Permits are revised and reissued by the Corps every five years. The current set of Nationwide Permits will expire March 18, 2007.
