Research findings imply that building management practices and employee behavior make a difference in reducing the environmental impact of jobs. Performing jobs in a greener fashion is a much greater challenge than replacing equipment and updating buildings, but greening jobs already in the labor market has potential for a large and immediate impact on the environment, with many benefits for the organizations holding these jobs. This paper from ICF International suggests that another way to develop environmental sustainability is to analyze current labor market jobs to assess their environmental impacts; that is, to measure their greenness.
