Best Practices in New Employee Orientation

ICF International worked with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) to develop a comprehensive New Employee Orientation program. ICF worked with CDRH Staff College to develop Gateway to Success, a flexible program comprised of both online and interpersonal delivery media. Its comprehensive content supplements and builds on the basic FDA training employees receive on their first day of employment and emphasizes the context and importance of their specific roles at CDRH. With the objective to both inform and excite new employees, the new program extends beyond the one first day of employment to ensure that new employees are properly supported during their first six months on the job—this extended support goes a long way towardkeeping new employees engaged and motivated to succeed.
