For more than 20 years, ICF International has supported public and private clients on issues related to global climate change. Over that time, ICF has amassed significant expertise in developing strategies and analyzing policies to manage emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the public and private sectors. ICF offers a wide range of climate change related services, including:
ICF’s expertise is not just in some of the areas that are critical for analyzing GHG strategies and policies, but across all analytical areas. This breadth and depth of perspective comes from ICF’s unique long-term involvement in the climate change arena. Indeed, our analytical and strategy services are recognized for their excellence.
In 2008,
ICF was recognized as the leader in climate change consulting services by Verdantix, an independent business research firm focused on climate change, carbon markets, and corporate responsibility.
Verdantix named ICF a strong choice for companies needing expertise in carbon management strategy and implementation, multi-regional carbon trading and offsetting advice, and climate change opportunity analysis. ICF was also recognized for its decision to implement its own consulting advice and become carbon neutral.
In addition, for the third year in a row (2006-2008), ICF was voted the Best Carbon Advisory Company by nearly 2,000 organizations that responded to a survey by Environmental Finance Magazine in four categories:
- Best Advisor for EU Emissions Trading Scheme
- Best Advisor for Kyoto Projects
- Best Advisor for North American Mandatory Markets
- Best Advisor for Voluntary Markets
ICF’s in-house staff have deep expertise across all GHGs and more than 50 distinct GHG emission sources, as well as in the science of tropospheric and stratospheric ozone, criteria air pollutant measurement and chemistry, and economic, emissions, and mitigation modeling. Our experts include three staff that were nominated to the
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Roster of Experts and 11 contributors to the 2006
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines.
Climate change is a key priority for ICF. As a matter of corporate social responsibility, we are a member of the California Climate Action Registry, Green Power Partnership, ENERGY STAR®, Commuter Choice, and other programs. ICF has also invested significantly in our capability to provide climate change services by developing a series of models and tools, including a multi-sector GHG mitigation model, an international carbon pricing model, and the IPM® (power sector model).
