The ICF Early Education Institute™ works with infant/toddler programs to provide comprehensive training and professional development for managers and caregiving staff. Based on an understanding of programs’ strategic goals and an assessment of assets and needs, we tailor unique training opportunities that incorporate the principles of adult learning and integrate the latest research in the field.
Effective infant/toddler programs offer a foundation for children’s optimal healthy development and enhance their readiness for future learning. Positive impact on the lives of young children and their families can be increased by ensuring staff have the knowledge, skills, and resources required to implement a high-quality program.
We match appropriate services and trainers to address programs’ particular issues and increase the capacity of program personnel to deliver quality early learning experiences for children from birth to age 3.

ICF has developed an Infant/Toddler course that consists of 10 modules for a total of 44 hours. Completion of the course fulfills the CDA training requirements. The course can be brought to your site and scheduled to meet your programs needs.

Technical Assistance
Our technical assistance consultants can visit your program and identify specific strengths and areas for improvement in order to ensure overall program performance and positive outcomes for our youngest children. Site visits can be based on best practices or tailored around program requirements and standards such as licensing, state QRIS, or other evaluation tools, such as ITERS-R, ELLCO, and CLASS.
Infant/Toddler Trainer on Retainer
A program consultant can be assigned to your program to provide on-going support—weekly, monthly, or as needed. The trainer will work side by side with the director and/or staff to provide essential coaching, training, and resources as needed.

Development of Professional Development Systems
for
Infant/Toddler Caregivers
The ICF Early Education Institute works with clients to enhance the quality of their infant/toddler care and education programs through a variety of methodologies, including evaluation, technical assistance, and training. Using these methodologies in combination or alone, we have worked side-by-side with national, state, and local partners to improve service delivery and efficiencies, demonstrate greater accountability, and translate state-of-the-art research into effective practices.
Using a collaborative, systems approach, we developed a comprehensive, competency-based professional development program for caregivers of infants and toddlers for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The program was designed to standardize and enhance training in the state’s early childhood program settings to improve the quality of infant and toddler care statewide. The 50-hour training program, rooted in early childhood best practices with an emphasis on partnerships and teamwork between trainers and infant/toddler programs in all settings, included modules for caregivers; training of trainers, program leaders, and administrators; performance measurement; health and safety practices; and tools to help programs achieve continuous quality improvement.
