Our first webcast in a series discussing hot topics and issues in the field of early care and education was held on February 13, 2009. Listen to the discussion on current research and implementation issues on Quality Rating Systems (QRS). QRS systematically assess, improve, and communicate the level of quality in early and school-age care programs through quality ratings that meet a set of defined program standards. These systems provide an opportunity for states to increase the quality of care for children, increase parents’ understanding and demand for higher quality care, and increase professional development of child care providers.
Presenters
- Gail Zellman—Senior Research Psychologist and Practicing Clinical Psychologist (Rand Corporation) will discuss findings from the RAND study Child-Care Quality Rating and Improvement Systems in Five Pioneer States: Implementation Issues and Lessons Learned
- Gladys Wilson—President and CEO (Qualistar Early Learning) and Paula Neth (Qualistar Early Learning) will discuss state level efforts to evaluate their QRS and implement evidence-based approaches
