ICF to Support State Active Transportation and Demand Management Programs

ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI), a leading provider of consulting services and technology solutions to government and commercial clients, was recently awarded a new contract by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT). The contract has a term of five years, including four base years and one option year, and will be incrementally funded. The funding for the first year is $4.9 million.

ICF will provide comprehensive program development, technical, operational and outreach services to support NYSDOT’s integrated regional and statewide travel demand management (TDM) and active transportation and demand management (ATDM) programs. This work includes supporting alternative transportation and employer services; assisting with the marketing, coordination and promotion of transportation options; and providing policy, planning and research support, as well as technology solutions, to help the agency and its regions improve mobility, accessibility, system optimization and quality of life by improving alternatives to driving alone.

As part of this effort, ICF will continue to manage and support 511NY Rideshare, NYSDOT’s free, open source ridematching platform designed to provide information and resources to help commuters, travelers and employers find easy, affordable and appealing transportation alternatives.

To this engagement, ICF brings extensive capabilities in current and emerging TDM/ATDM policies and strategies including active traffic management (ATM) and integrated corridor management, transportation operations, technology, marketing and communications, survey research and customer service, as well as international best practice research and implementation, performance reporting, evaluation and cost-effectiveness analysis.

"The NYSDOT project is an excellent opportunity for ICF to showcase its transportation operations capabilities and ability to support major transportation programs with comprehensive services, from policy analysis through implementation and evaluation, as well as delivering innovative tools that help maximize limited resources," said Elaine Haemisegger, vice president for ICF International. "The future direction of transportation demand management will focus on optimizing existing transportation systems and empowering travelers with real-time information to make informed choices that will prevent delays, improve safety, promote sustainable travel modes and reduce emissions."
