Firm Recognized for Strategic Acquisition of Jones & Stokes
Fairfax, Virginia,
February 2, 2009 - For the third straight year, ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI) was recognized by Environmental Business Journal (EBJ) with a Business Achievement Award. ICF won a 2008 Silver Medal in the Mergers & Acquisitions – Mid-sized Deals category for its acquisition of Jones & Stokes, a 400-person integrated planning and resource management firm specializing in transportation, energy, water, and natural resources issues.
Established in 1970, Jones & Stokes supports a broad mix of federal, state, and local government and commercial clients on projects involving the planning and implementation of required infrastructure improvements and mandated government programs. The acquisition of Jones & Stokes expands ICF's environmental capabilities and offerings in strategic growth areas and deepens the firm's environmental planning and natural resource management capabilities. With 19 offices in seven states, Jones & Stokes also strengthens ICF's presence in the western U.S.
“ICF and Jones & Stokes together benefit our employees, stockholders, and clients,” stated John Cowdery, ICF senior vice president and former president and CEO of Jones & Stokes. “This acquisition has allowed us to quickly expand our combined markets and geography, and design new initiatives now possible through our united competencies.”
In addition to this year’s award, ICF and Jones & Stokes were independently selected for 2007 EBJ awards. Last year, Jones & Stokes received a Gold Medal for increasing its annual sales by nearly 21 percent, and ICF was acknowledged for its acquisition of Energy and Environmental Analysis, Inc. (EEA) and Simat, Helliesen & Eichner, Inc. (SH&E). ICF also won a 2006 Silver Medal for Business Achievement in the large firms category.
“Our acquisition of Jones & Stokes, EEA, and SH&E, combined with our increased international presence, has positioned ICF International as a preeminent global consultancy in the transportation, aviation, energy, climate change, and environment sectors.” said Sudhakar Kesavan, ICF chairman and CEO. “We are honored to be recognized by the Environmental Business Journal for these strategic acquisitions.”
