Program to Reduce Homeowner Energy Bills, Alleviate Pressure on Energy Supply, and Improve Air Quality
Fairfax, Virginia,
January 25, 2007 - ICF International (Nasdaq: ICFI) announced today that it was awarded Edison's California New Homes Program, a two-year, US$1.9 million recompete contract with Southern California Edison. The program’s goal is to create high-performance homes that will lower homeowner energy bills while simultaneously reducing the strain on California energy supplies and improving local air quality.
“We look forward to supporting Southern California Edison on this essential program, employing our proven success in implementing highly cost-effective residential energy efficiency programs and our portfolio of advisory services and implementation tools to successfully reduce energy costs and consumption for southern California residents,” said Mike Mernick, senior vice president at ICF and an expert in energy efficiency.
The program will encourage homebuilders to install energy-efficient technologies in new home construction and construct homes that exceed California's energy efficiency standards for new construction by a minimum of 15 percent, which qualifies the homes to be certified as ENERGY STAR®. ICF will be providing program design and implementation support including recruiting homebuilders, providing technical support, and promoting the benefits of energy-efficient new home construction through outreach.
