ICF International Hires Climate Change Expert Dr. Peter Schultz to Work in Energy, Climate, and Transportation Practice

Dr. Schultz Will Focus on Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Strategies

Fairfax, Virginia, September 29, 2009 - ICF International announced today that Dr. Peter Schultz, Director of the U.S. Global Change Research Program Office (USGCRP), will be joining ICF as a Principal in the Energy, Climate, and Transportation practice to focus on climate change impacts and adaptation strategies. Dr. Schultz, who comes to the firm with 20 years of experience in climate science and policy issues, will begin his new position in November.

Prior to joining ICF, Dr. Schultz spent five years with the USGCRP, most recently as manager of the Office’s activities to coordinate and integrate the 13 departments and agencies involved in the $2.0B federal global change research program. Prior to the USGCRP, Dr. Schultz worked with the National Academy of Sciences on a variety of high visibility projects related to climate variability and change, climate modeling, climate monitoring and observation, global environmental change, and climate education.

"We are delighted that Peter has decided to join ICF's climate change adaptation team," said Anne Choate, who leads ICF’s adaptation group. "His qualifications in the deployment of climate risk assessment and risk management approaches, combined with his first-hand experience integrating climate science and decision support, are vital when designing and implementing successful adaptation strategies."

Commenting on his position, Dr. Schultz said, "I'm thrilled to join the ICF team. Its proven track record and diverse set of strengths have placed it in a perfect position to meet the rapidly growing needs of the federal government, states, and the private sector to prepare for both the threats and opportunities presented by climate change.
